There are only a handful of responsible UK breeders.

www.caoclub.co.uk was recently set up by us and will benefit the breed greatly in the UK.  Unfortunately many forgot the fact its a lifetime commitment for new owners and ultimately the dog!  We saw the need to support them both when the need arises.  The Club and its members are therefore here to stay for you both : )

Also with control and ethical behaviour we will earn a greater knowledge and respect for the breed in our modern society.  This then promotes credibility and respect among our peers in the wider dog community. 

The breed does have a fearsome reputation as a protector but with its balanced even temperament and an informed responsible owner this breed can be a respected member of modern society. 

 The Club will also organise events so we can promote and learn from each other about the truly amazing breed the Central Asian Ovcharka. The Club will act as the guardian for the breed in the UK as they do for us!

This is why it is important to remember the Ovcharka is not the right breed for everyone and rescues have been happening recently.  The founding breeders chose to ignore these dogs also and their owners but they are all in good family homes now : )

Research Research Research!!!  This is key before owning a Central Asian Ovcharka. 

You must be a good pack leader that outlines the rules and limitations.  Be willing to exercise your dog for at least an hour a day!!  Not leave it at home for long periods, spend time playing with your dog, give it its own place to sleep and retreat, be willing to train your dog, feed your dog the right stuff!! and be able to pay for routine check ups, etc at the Vetrinarians.  These are just a few important factors you must realise before owning ANY dog but especially important with owning an Ovcharka.

At Richdon we give each new owner a care pack with a care sheet outlining their repsonsibilities and how to fulfill their new puppies new life with you.

CAO's are exceptionally intelligent and powerful and so if not fulfilled in these areas they will become unbelievably destructive and a nuissance!!  However with a lot of time and effort you will own the greatest and most rewarding breed of the dog in the world!!   They will protect you and love your family like no other.  They will be your guardian angel in fur.
